My 2007 series The war at home, which examined how the war in Iraq affected local residents, won a third place Dateline Award from the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists in 2008, a third place award from the Suburban Newspapers of America in 2007 and a first place award from the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association in 2007.

My 2005 series Gateway to their future (part two) looked at the charms of the diverse Long Branch community of Silver Spring and the challenges of revitalizing the neighborhood. It won a second place series award from the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association in 2005.

At Washington Adventist, doctors at the cardiac center make sure the beat goes onĀ  won a second place award for medical/science reporting from the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association in 2002.

Takoma Park: One city, many faces (part two) won a second place series award from the Maryland-Delaware-Press Association in 2002.
